Large borders

Can the large borders around this template be reduced? For an example, see Talk:World Series. The template below is placed on the line directly under this template, but there is still a large space. If they are placed on the same line, the space is smaller, but still relatively big for a template. Templates above this template also have large spaces between them. It happens for other templates than the references one shown, so I think the problem is with this template. Pages, especially talk pages, can have many templates on them and if there are large spaces between them, their domination of the page can be made even worse. -- Kjkolb 08:54, 27 October 2006 (UTC)

I tried to add some notes on usage similar to Template:WPBiography. Please feel free to correct mistakes, as I will attempt to clean it up some more in the coming days. — Linnwood 07:56, 4 February 2007 (UTC)

Move to /doc system

{{editprotected}} I suggest that this template's documentation should move to the /doc system, as it is rather lengthy and may require non-critical updates periodically. I stumbled across this due to adding the banner to a baseball field article, and noticed that the documentation still has the copyable code and other material using "Baseball-WikiProject", rather than the current name. It is minor, but there is no reason to not go this route. Since it already uses a transclusion, it wouldn't be difficult (and I've already enacted the specific term-fix). -- Huntster (talk o email o contribs) 18:10, 6 January 2008 (UTC)

Done, using {{template doc}}. Od Mishehu 15:27, 7 January 2008 (UTC)

Categorization of lists

I notice that when this template uses the "class=List" parameter, it seems to be causing a number of Talk pages to show up in Category:Baseball lists. Is this an intentional/desirable feature of the template? BRMo (talk) 05:42, 12 January 2008 (UTC)

Interesting case here. Quite a few WikiProjects use the List-class function, so it is intentional, but most of the time a pre-existing list category isn't present. In this situation, it appears the List function was added after articles were already categorised into "Baseball lists". So, I'm not sure that it is really desirable as-is. Most of the time the list function points to a category such as Category:List-Class Tennessee articles, but to set up a similar category here would be a replication of function. Two ways to proceed would be 1) remove the List function as stick with the traditional FA, A, GA, B, Start, Stub setup, or 2) convert all existing articles in the "Baseball lists" cat to use the list function, and remove the category from non-talk pages. There really isn't any preferred way to go. -- Huntster (talk o email o contribs) 02:26, 14 January 2008 (UTC)
My recommendation is to update the template so when the template uses the "class=List" parameter it puts the talk pages into Category:List-Class baseball articles (or Category:List-Class Australian/Japanese/Korean/Taiwanese baseball articles as appropriate). Regarding the "replication of function", that seems to be how most of the other templates which use the List-class function operate: consider that most of the articles whose talk pages are in Category:List-Class Tennessee articles are themselves in Category:Tennessee-related lists. An alternative would be to keep Category:Baseball lists for the talk pages, and move the articles which are currently in that category into a new (article space) category called "Baseball-related lists". DH85868993 (talk) 05:32, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
D'oh, forgot about the TN-related lists category. I may one day try and clear it out, but it doesn't hurt anything as-is. Indeed, I created "List-Class Tennessee articles" to bring things to a standard form; it is basically up to the project, or rather, whomever watches out for the template and project categories. If you did decide to migrate the baseball articles to a "Baseball-related lists" cat, you could simply request a rename of "Baseball lists" to "List-Class Baseball articles" at popflock.com Resource: Categories for discussion. -- Huntster (t o @ o c) 07:31, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
I don't think you need to clear out TN-related lists. I think it's perfectly fine for there to be two categories: one for the articles (in "article space") and one for the talk pages (in "WikiProject space"). DH85868993 (talk) 08:37, 23 January 2008 (UTC)

List-Class and FL-Class (featured lists) are now "proper" article grades that are picked up by the assessment bot (see here). As I understand it, this requires articles to be categorized under Category:List-Class baseball articles and Category:FL-Class baseball articles. Regards. PC78 (talk) 23:25, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Fixes to template

I have added FL and C classes, and fixed the problem with the List class as discussed above. It is all available at Template:WikiProject Baseball/sandbox if someone can please implement the changes. (I'm not an admin). Test was conducted at Template talk:WikiProject Baseball/sandbox, and it works like it is supposed to. --Borgardetalk 10:17, 8 August 2008 (UTC)

Update to Template:WPBannerMeta

Template:WikiProject Baseball/sandbox

Hey, I've updated the code for this template for the Meta template. I've tested in the sandbox and it works fine. Could someone update this code thanks. I have also included the extended scale because it's been a lot overdue for this project. There will be red-links once the change is implemented but I'll rid them as soon as someone updates it. This will make the banner a lot easier to update in the future. Thanks! T--Borgardetalk 13:18, 28 August 2008 (UTC)

. As no comments have been left for a couple of days, I'm implemented the above change. Please make sure that all appropriate category updates are made ASAP. Cheers! -- Huntster (t o @ o c) 04:10, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

There seems to have been one error by not changing a parameter name in the task forces. This has been fixed in the sandbox if someone could please fix this ASAP. This is uncontroversial because it's only a simple mistake i overlooked. --Borgardetalk 08:17, 31 August 2008 (UTC)

Code update

The code of this template has been updated at Template:WikiProject Baseball/sandbox to support sub-projects assessments. This has been discussed numerous times in the project with the latest discussion running for over a week with no objections. The changes have been tested and work fine. If someone could please update the template this would be great. --Borgardetalk 12:49, 7 September 2008 (UTC)

About line 289 could someone replace:

 |TF_2_IMAGE = BuschStadium_2006-05-30.jpg
  |TF_2_SIZE = 40px

 |TF_2_IMAGE = Fredbird head.jpg
  |TF_2_SIZE = 35px

This is the image used by that project.--Borgardetalk 01:33, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Importance on subprojects.

The Template:WikiProject Baseball/sandbox now contains the code to allow subprojects importance to be shown on the template, like shown on Template:WikiProject Baseball/testcases. --Borgardetalk 04:27, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

. Also blanked sandbox and commented out test cases to keep them from showing up in project categories. -- Huntster (t o @ o c) 05:10, 23 September 2008 (UTC)

Minnesota Twins

Considering the Twins have moved out of the Metrodome, shouldn't File:Metrodome ALDS Oct 2004.JPG be replaced? I'd recommend File:Target Field April 2010.jpg. – Muboshgu (talk) 14:59, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Atlanta Braves

I have recently created the WikiProject Atlanta Braves and I need an administrator to add the 'braves=yes' parameter to the template. I have already updated the template documentation to complement this change. I would like to use the following image: Turner field exterior.jpg. Thank you in advance for any help. Bbqsauce13 (talk) 03:02, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

I've made some changes to Template:WikiProject Baseball/sandbox. Please check and make any adjustments as necessary. And have you discussed this with WikiProject Baseball yet? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:23, 20 October 2011 (UTC)
I changed the picture to a more recent one that I took last month. It also provides a more direct look at the words "Turner Field." Looking at all the other team-related parameters, the pictures appear much larger than the one being used here. Is there an easy way to fix that? And yes, I brought this to the attention of WikiProject Baseball here. Bbqsauce13 (talk) 15:41, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

Toronto Blue Jays

There exists a Toronto Blue Jays subproject, but no parameter in this template to recognize it, much as we recently added the Braves and Padres subprojects. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:37, 17 January 2012 (UTC)

So...what do you want me to do? Please edit the sandbox so that its contents are the same as what you want the template to be -- that way, administrators can perform the edit by copy/pasting all its contents into the main template, even if (like me) they aren't that familiar with this template or with the typical desires of baseball editors. Nyttend (talk) 19:45, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
Right, well, I dunno. I don't know how to make changes to WikiProject templates. Their coding is beyond me and my expertise. I made an edit in the sandbox that maybe helps, but it didn't seem to work. – Muboshgu (talk) 20:02, 20 January 2012 (UTC)
I have fixed the code myself at the sandbox. This project should appear now. JJ98 (talk) 06:20, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

Edit request - HoF

Please incorporate this edit from the sandbox into the template. With consensus at WT:BASEBALL, I am adding a new task force, the Hall of Fame task force. Additionally, I reorganized the existing task forces so that the nationality task forces go first, the non-team specific task forces go second, and the team specific go third, all in alphabetical order. – Muboshgu (talk) 17:09, 3 April 2012 (UTC)

Edit request - Umpires

Please replace the content of this template with the content in Template:WikiProject Baseball/sandbox. The relevant diff is here. An example of the template working is available at User:Ryan Vesey/Template sandbox oldid. Relevant discussion on inclusion is available at popflock.com Resource: Help desk#How do I add a task force tag to an article's talk page?,and User talk:Ryan Vesey#Help desk question. The discussion to create the task force exists at popflock.com Resource: WikiProject Council/Proposals/Umpires and popflock.com Resource: WikiProject Baseball#Umpires Task Force. The task force exists at popflock.com Resource: WikiProject Baseball/Umpires task force. This change will not affect the templates transclusions on current pages and will not affect any of the other task forces.
