Precious Lunga (born 1974 in Bulawayo, Rhodesia[1]) is a Zimbabwean-born epidemiologist. She is currently Head of Health at global telecommunications company Econet Wireless.[2] Prior to taking up this post, she worked with UNAIDS Geneva, and participated in anti-HIV microbicide trials led by the UK Medical Research Council for African women.[3] She also worked in countries such as Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Mozambique and South Africa.[1]


Precious Lunga was born in Bulawayo, Rhodesia (present-day Zimbabwe), and grew up there until the age of 17, when she went to Britain to study. She attended the University of Edinburgh graduating in 1998 with a first-class degree in neuroscience.[1] She went on to earn a PhD in neuroscience in 2003 from the University of Cambridge, where she was also captain of the women's karate team.[1]

In 2010, she married Jon Snow, the journalist and Channel 4 news anchor.[4]
