Paravai Muniyamma ?

Paravai Muniyamma (born 1943) is a Tamil folk singer and actress who prominently plays supporting roles. Appearing in many Tamil films, she has also sung playback in films as well as having her own cook show on Kalaignar TV.[1][2]

Muniyamma's career started off with a role in Dhool, which garnered her a cult status. Since then she has appeared in over 50 films, usually playing grandmother roles.[3]

The lady has completed 2,000 stage performances on folk songs, which also includes shows in London, Singapore and Malaysia.[4]

She was hospitalized for two years back and sought help from Tamil film industry. Then the Tamil film industry helped her including actor Sivakarthikeyan and Vishal [5] Then Chief Minister Selvi. J. Jayalalithaa had helped under MGR welfare scheme by arranging 6 lakhs fixed deposit in her name, and actor Dhanush had also taken care of her treatment expenses.[6]

She has been awarded in 2019, Kalaimamani for the year of 2012 by Govt. of Tamilnadu. [7]
