Don Shula, the all-time leader in regular-season wins by a head coach, addresses troops on the USS Ronald Reagan
George Halas was the all-time leader in regular-season wins for decades, recording all his victories with the Chicago Bears.

In professional American football, the National Football League (NFL) gives the head coach credit for his team's win-loss record. As of the 2019 season, 104 coaches, about 20%, have won 50 or more games.[1]

Former head coach Don Shula holds the records for most wins with 347 and the most regular-season wins with 328. Prior to Shula, the records for most wins and regular-season wins were held by Chicago Bears founder George Halas with 324 and 318, which are the most with a single franchise. Bill Belichick has the most wins and the most regular-season wins among active head coaches and holds the record for most playoff wins at 31.
