Christine Kane is the founder and CEO of Uplevel You(TM)--a business-coaching company that speaks directly to the growing class of sensitive, idea-driven, aggression-averse entrepreneurs (a class she counts herself a member of). Kane's Strategy-and-Soul approach to business--less focus on conquering the world, more focus on mindset, energy, and authenticity in building profitability--has attracted tens of thousands of entrepreneurs across the globe to Uplevel's suite of online courses, live retreats, and select masterminds. The company is based in Asheville, North Carolina
Uplevel You was a natural evolution from Kane's fifteen-year career in the music industry. An American folk singer-songwriter and acoustic guitarist, Kane produced seven albums under her own label, Firepink--selling more than 100,000 copies. Her album "Rain & Mud & Wild & Green" (2002) was named Best Folk Album by Borders Books and Music. Her concert DVD, Live at the Diana Wortham Theater won a Telly Award. And Country star Kathy Mattea recorded Kane's song "Right Out of Nowhere" (written with Steve Seskin). Kane has appeared with John Mayer, The Beach Boys, Los Lobos, Nanci Griffith, and Shawn Colvin, among many others.
Christine Kane grew up in Fairfax, VA. She is the youngest of 4 children. She studied ballet for 15 years and was an avid writer and reader. She graduated from Boston College, where she studied communications and theology.
Upon graduating college, Kane got her first (and only) "real job" at Ogilvy & Mather Public Relations in Washington, DC, where she remained for just over a year. On the day she was promoted, she made the decision to quit and backpack across Europe and Africa. Upon returning to the States, she moved to Asheville, NC to pursue songwriting and music.
Over the coming years, Kane produced seven albums under her own label, Firepink Music--selling more than 100,000 copies. Her album "Rain & Mud & Wild & Green" (2002) was named Best Folk Album by Borders Books and Music. Her concert DVD, Live at the Diana Wortham Theater won a Telly Award. Country star Kathy Mattea recorded Kane's song "Right Out of Nowhere." Performing around 250 dates a year, Kane appeared with John Mayer, The Beach Boys, Los Lobos, Nanci Griffith, Shawn Colvin, as well as many best-selling authors like Sister Helen Prejan and SARK among others.
Noting her success and the fact of her profitability as a singer/songwriter, fellow musicians and fans started asking how she did it while staying true to her art and herself.
Those backstage questions prompted Kane to start offering 3-day discovery retreats, even as she continued her rigorous tour schedule. After consistently selling out these retreats five times per year, Kane offered an online training called "Uplevel Your Life," based on the retreat content. That program went on to sell over 7000 copies.
In 2010, Kane opened the doors of Uplevel You. Within a little more than a year, her company had revenues of more than $1 million. Today, Kane leads nine administrative staff and four coaches at Uplevel You headquarters in Asheville, North Carolina.
