Bahman (Persian: ?, Persian pronunciation: [bæh'mæn]) is the eleventh and penultimate month of the Solar Hijri calendar, the official calendar of Iran and Afghanistan. Bahman has thirty days. It begins in January and ends in February of the Gregorian calendar. The month is equivalent to Aquarius zodiac.
Bahman is thought to be a derivative modern form of "Vohu Manah", but in modern Persian "Bahman" literally means "Snow Avalanche". "Vohu Manah" means "pure mind/spirit". It comes from the Avestan "Vohu" which comes from the verbal root "Vah" meaning "to love", and from the Avestan "Manah" which comes from the root "Man" meaning "mind/spirit". "Manah" is "the power to see, know, imagine".
