Handgun/holster rental is available for an additional $15 per person (payable separately on the day of class).
Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?
You must be 21 years or older in order to apply for a CHP in Nebraska. Those under 21 may register and attend the event, however your certificate of completed training is only valid for 3 years.
Do I have to have experience shooting a handgun prior to taking this class?
Yes, you must have at least a basic level of experience loading, unloading, and firing a handgun prior to attending. There is a shooting qualification that you must successfully pass in order to get your certificate of completion. If you are unsure about your experience level, please call us to discuss prior to registering.
I don't own a handgun yet, can I still take the class?
Yes, we have a handgun and holster that you can rent to use for your shooting qualification for an additional $15.
Is this the same as a CCW class?
In Nebraska, the permit to carry a concealed handgun is called a CHP (concealed handgun permit). Other states, such as Iowa, refer to it as a CCW permit (concealed carry weapon).
What can I expect on the day of the class?
You can expect an informative and non-intimidating classroom session that caters to all individuals, genders, and ages equally. Our instructors (Brad and Tiffany) strive to make each class enjoyable and to form a lasting relationship with each attendee. Our passion is teaching everyday individuals the legal and practical ramifications of carrying a handgun in a manner that they can relate to. If you are looking for a tactical focused experience filled with stories of military/LE accomplishments, our class may not meet your expectations.
I'm nervous taking tests, what can I expect and should I prepare in advance?
Many people do not like taking tests, however there is a 30 question written test which you must pass at 70% or higher in order to get your certificate. You will be well prepared and confident to take this test at the conclusion of our classroom training so there is no need to worry or over-prepare in advance of the class.
