Access and Functional Needs and Sheltering Training Workshop
The training will consist of three components. Members of South Bay Community Services will present on how to identify signs and symptoms of mental health and behavioral health disorders in emergencies and understand basic de-escalation/intervention techniques that can be used in an emergency. Massachusetts Opioid Abuse Prevention Collaborative of Greater Lowell will present on how to identify signs and symptoms of substance abuse disorder in a sheltering setting and best practices for assisting those that exhibit signs and symptoms. Liisa Jackson will present a sheltering training, that identifies different types of shelters, individual considerations, shelter roles and responsibilities and understand client interactions in a shelter.
