Your Air Force Sergeants Association (AFSA) Kittyhawk Chapter 751 is excited to once again support the Dayton Air Show on 22 and 23 June 2019. Historically, this event is our largest fundraiser of the year, and it allows AFSA to provide support to over 60 Airman and Veteran programs throughout the year. As in years past, AFSA is responsible for providing volunteer manpower in the beer booths as well as a variety of food concessionaires over the course of the weekend. As such, your volunteer assistance is greatly appreciated and critical to making the event a success.
Volunteer benefits include free air show admission ($20 value), free, secure volunteer only parking (saves you $10 in spectator parking fees), and 2 free food vouchers ($20 value).
To volunteer, simply select your preferred day (Saturday or Sunday), then select one booth assignment per volunteer. Don't delay! Assignments are taken on a first come first served basis and fill up fast! DISCLAIMER: Beer booths are limited to adults 21 and over only--no exceptions.
PLEASE NOTE: There is a possibility we may have to move you to a different booth than what you intially requested based on our volunteer numbers and needs. Please be flexible.
Will my printed volunteer registration suffice for admission?
No. YOU MUST PICK UP a Volunteer Admission/Parking Pass from AFSA event organizers on Thursday (20 June) 1200-1800 at the USO or Friday (21 June) 1200-1700 at Packy's Bar and Grill at the Hope Hotel. You will receive pass distribution details after registration. A printed registration confirmation from Eventbrite.com does not suffice for entry. Maps to the Vendor Parking area will be available at Pass Pick up.
Are there minimum age requirements to volunteer?Volunteers must be 13 years or older to be assigned to a food booth. Younger children (ages 6+) may accompany a parent assigned to a frozen lemonade stand.
Volunteers must be 21 years or older to be assigned to a beer booth or pavilion booth--no exceptions!
What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?
You may drive your personal vehicle (maps and parking passes will be handed out at registration--see above). Please understand there will be a lot of traffic so please plan ahead and leave early to ensure you make it on time.
AFSA will also provide bus transportation to and from the Hope Hotel. If you prefer this option, please indicate so at "check out".
Can I sign up to work a different shift time?Due to severe traffic constraints the afternoon shifts have been eliminated. AFSA consolidated all volunteers to one shift per day from at 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Please plan accordingly.
Can I take a break to get something to eat and watch a little of the show?Yes, booths will be staffed so that all AFSA volunteers can take sufficient breaks throughout the day to watch and experience the air show and enjoy some of the food items. Breaks should be coordinated with your fellow volunteers.
I've made it to the airport Vendor Parking, now what do I do?Gather your personal items (foldable camping chair, hat, sunglasses, camera, etc.), lock your car (the parking lot has security), proceed to the AFSA booth (which is the first beer booth) along the promenade and check-in with your Row Boss.
How much does food cost?Food is free for AFSA volunteers only. Each volunteer will be given 2 food vouchers during your shift which are redeemable at any of the AFSA food booths.
