Getting Started with Service-Learning
Join faculty colleagues to explore service-learning as a high-impact educational practice for courses in all disciplines at a workshop led by Dr. Barbara Jacoby.
This interactive workshop will serve as an on-ramp for faculty members new to service-learning and will enable those who have had some service-learning experience to dive deeper into the pedagogy. It will address three of the most frequently asked questions about service-learning: (1) What exactly is service-learning and what does it look like across disciplines? (2) So what are its benefits to students, communities, faculty, and universities? and (3) Now what? How do I get started? Participants will work through a step-by-step Service-Learning Course Design Worksheet. Those who are teaching a service-learning course or seeking to integrate service-learning into an existing course are encouraged to bring their syllabus.
No experience with service-learning is required.
Registration includes lunch and materials.
