2. FIREARM SAFETY TRAINING MUST BE COMPLETED TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS EVENT.
BSA Firearm Safety Training: All Scouts, Varsity, and Venture participants must attend Firearms Safety Training that will include a 30 minute briefing for each type of firearm they will shoot. Total time for this training will be 90 minutes for Venture participants (Rifle, Shotgun and Pistol) and 60 minutes for Scout and Varsity participants (Rifle and Shotgun). A Fire Safety Training (FST) card will be issued at the end of training; this card is valid for two years. FST will be held the morning of the event before the range is open.
3. SCOUTS MUST BRING EYE AND EAR PROTECTION
Scouts must have eye and low profile ear protection to shoot safely at this event. Amazon offers a complete Walker brand kit with free shipping for ~ $13
More event details:
Scouts will be challenged by shooting 22LR bolt action rifles at shooting dueling trees, falling plate racks, swinging steel plates and hanging tennis balls. Shotgunners will be targeting clay pigeons launched on the side range. Venture Scouts will also shoot pistol and semi-auto 22LR rifles (Remember to dual register as a Scout/Venture scout if you are over 14 yrs old). Surprise activities will be available for you to enjoy, come out and see them. We will hold Firearm Safety Training at the beginning of the event. All participants will need a signed BSA permission slip.
NOTE: Scouts can bring youth guests to this event, they can sign-up online and bring a signed BSA permission slip.
NRA certified instructors will run this event. Ammunition and firearms are included in the participant fees; we will shoot rain or shine so “Be Prepared”! Lunch will be available for purchase, scouts should bring water bottles, sunscreen, their own sack lunch if they prefer, camp chairs, etc.
